Thoughts & Reflections: Welcome

Having recently returned from a wonderful trip to Iran, I wanted to post some photos and text on this trip, which I did on Facebook.Readers requested that I make these postings accessible to a wider audience.  This request is the inspiration for this website.

Writing after my visit to Africa in 2012, a destination that held interest since my boyhood, I reflected:

  1. People sometimes ask if I'm not excited when going somewhere new and exotic. No, with age and hopefully with a little wisdom, I don't get excited. But that doesn't mean there isn't a quiet anticipation, a joyful and open state of mind and heart – a joy at the adventure and an openness to new people and culture, or to a familiar people and culture that I haven't seen for some time. There are far better states of mind than excitement.

I have been blessed to make many trips throughout the world, hopefully employing these principles of quiet openness and adventure throughout. As time permits, we are adding my accounts of other places of discovery.

With all best wishes,
